What are TIs plans to support icssg ethernet on mainline Linux?

<NishanthMenon>
austriancoder: we have been working on it in pieces.. first piece was to get the basics of pru in upstream, including intc etc.. next step is to get the client drivers in.. I believe we are closer to second step now.. which would be the actual networking support etc..
<NishanthMenon>
and yep, this is one of the long pole item that we have been specifically focussed on for a few years now. but as with everything in upstream, it has to be built up groundsup

NishanthMenon: good to hear... nothing against the TI downstream kernel but I got am64 and am65 based devices working very well with mainline but needed to forward-port the icssg stuff and that is quite time consuming. I don't dare to ask for an ETA but the public main developer of that effort (Suman Anna) stopped sending updated patches e.g. for the in-kernel pru client API and that's not a great sign that this work will materialize
<austriancoder>
soonish.
<NishanthMenon>
austriancoder: hehe... Weekend ;) I don't have schedule handy.. but suman was working on getting the base layer done. That is complete, now rproc client is the next stage. Different team members, ofcourse..
<NishanthMenon>
austriancoder: but yup we will be getting it rebased and discussed in upstream. Rc1 is still a week or so away
<NishanthMenon>
austriancoder: we share the same objectives of not having a dependency on vendor kernel.. but you should see next series of patches soon..
<austriancoder>
NishanthMenon: okay that are great news for the weekend. I would be very happy to test these patches when they hit the ml.
<NishanthMenon>
austriancoder: thanks. Will give a heads-up
