<naoki> how should I describe commit message with "_____________________________________________________________" ?
<naoki> insert single space as first character?

<robmur01> looks like patchwork being weird, since the mail itself looks fine (e.g. https://lore.kernel.org/all/20230901025719.34023-2-naoki@radxa.com/ as well)

<vagrantc> anyone know if the source to rk2aw is available anywhere? https://xnux.eu/rk2aw/
<vagrantc> 18i
<vagrantc> seems terribly useful!
<CounterPillow> seems terribly proprietary!
<vagrantc> without source, yes ... though MIT licensed ... so if anyone gets a copy of the source it would not be so :)
<diederik> vagrantc: apparently you exactly missed this convo on #debian-arm about it: https://paste.debian.net/1290687/
<vagrantc> i knew it was possible to distribute binaries without source under that license ... wonder what secret sauce is being leveraged :(
<CounterPillow> probably is backdoored for small community drama reasons
<CounterPillow> wouldn't use it
* vagrantc sighs
* robmur01 can't help but think "yo dawg I heard you like bootloaders so I wrote a bootloader for your bootloader"
<CounterPillow> yes, whatever it does could just be solved by people not distributing their own bootloader but the hardware vendor actually flashing something good and functional to the SPI
<vagrantc> for someone who tests bootloaders all the time, it seems to have many nice recovery failsafes ... but without source, not touching it
<vagrantc> CounterPillow: what would you actually flash to that? how is that developed? how do you test that? how do you verify it?
<CounterPillow> a mainline u-boot
<robmur01> nah, needs more EDK2 :D
<CounterPillow> you can iterate quickly by sending it through rockusb, or using an sd card
<CounterPillow> hmmm yes I love cursed Windows code
<vagrantc> that's the whole problem that rk2aw tries to solve ... being able to test flashing to spi or emmc ... as testing on SD card != other boot media
<vagrantc> and providing failsafes
<CounterPillow> ??? you don't test flashing to SPI by flashing something completely different to SPI
<vagrantc> fair ... but works for eMMC
<CounterPillow> which you can overwrite over rockusb
<vagrantc> as long as eMMC isn't flashed with something that actually works well enough to trick it into booting
<CounterPillow> yes? pull D0 low
<vagrantc> and now we're to shorting pins, what could go wrong.
<CounterPillow> there's usually a test pad
<vagrantc> usually :P
<CounterPillow> don't do bootloader development for a SoC on shit devices that don't have that
<vagrantc> fair point ... nevertheless ...
