<naoki> does panfrost work fine on rk356x?
<CounterPillow> yes
<CounterPillow> but you need a new enough mesa
<CounterPillow> (Debian Bullseye mesa is too old)

<naoki> bookworm, mesa 22.3.3
<naoki> kde-plasma-desktop doesn't work... system hang :(
<naoki> it works fine on rk3399
<CounterPillow> using wayland?
<CounterPillow> you should be using wayland, I don't think anyone tests panfrost on x11
<naoki> oh
<naoki> btw I'm trying 4k@30 patch, it works fine on rk356x, but not good for rk3399

<CounterPillow> What do you mean by "Not good", does it cause regressions or just not work at 4k30?
<mps> CounterPillow: I use panfrost on rk3399 with xorg, works fine
<CounterPillow> doesn't change the fact that it's not tested by upstream :P
<mps> I don't own any rk356X
<naoki> there is big noise(?) area on screen
<CounterPillow> interesting, for me it just works fine
<naoki> it works fine at 1920x1080 with 4k30 patch on rk3399
<naoki> 3840x2160 mode has a problem
<CounterPillow> oh, the rk3399 4k30 thing is the big noise area, sorry yeah I haven't tested that yet

<CounterPillow> Interesting, that works for me
<wiizzard> naoki: Noise probably comes from AFBC, it doesn't support 4k while the rockchip drm driver still advertises support. You can try to disable AFBC to make it work
<naoki> wiizzard: how to disable AFBC?
<wiizzard> For GNOME you can set a environment variable MUTTER_DEBUG_USE_KMS_MODIFIERS=0, dunno for KDE
<robmur01> If you're using Panfrost, "PAN_MESA_DEBUG=noafbc" ought to do it in general
<naoki> ah
<naoki> well
<naoki> it happens on frame buffer console
<naoki> probably kernel issue
<robmur01> ah, in that case it might be a clock or phy related thing
