<mriesch> mmind00, apart from the alias naming issue do you see anything that blocks the patch series? i am asking because i was not sure whether it is appropriate to introduce the io-domains although the driver is not mainline yet
<mmind00> mriesch: I didn't look that far yesterday ... so yes that is a problem ... at least the binding must be upstream ... can't you just also send in the iodomain driver part?
<mmind00> mriesch: aka the maintainer for the io-domain driver is the same as for the dts parts :-D
<mmind00> mriesch: so just add the io-domain driver + dt-binding addition as 2 separate patches to the series ;-)
<mriesch> mmind00: the support for the io-domains was posted on the list but then got lost somehow. but there were not any issues with the io domain patches in this case?
<mmind00> mriesch: yeah, found the patch from may just now ... I guess if you have the time, you could simply pick it up and address the review comments I had ;-)
<mriesch> mmind00: ok i'll give it a try
<mmind00> mriesch: I take it back
<mmind00> just found v2 in my inbox
<mmind00> mriesch: which in turn looks good ... I just need to make up my mind if we require an Ack on the binding from Rob ... I think the policy is that it's not needed if it's a simple new compatible
<mmind00> mriesch: so yeah, I think having the io-domain in your series is fine and doesn't need additional action

<mriesch> mmind00: as to jays series (v2), there was a mail from rob's bot complaining about syntax errors. you might want to take a look at that

<mmind00> mriesch: ah, my query into my inbox hid that first patch (but it was likely the reason the series was sitting around)... though that isn't an issue anymore ... we have https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mmind/linux-rockchip.git/commit/?h=v5.15-armsoc/drivers&id=742f62cb06720c12677f0bb05c64c9eeab34c8ec now
<mmind00> mriesch: hmm, but looking at that ... the binding for the rj3568 might actually need an amendment as well
<mmind00> mriesch: there are sections for each soc defining the supply properties
<mriesch> mmind00: if you are fine with a mixed bag of sweets, i can make a series with the v2 of jay's patches + v2 of my patches
<mriesch> mmind00: then we have at least a clean base to restart the discussion
<mmind00> mriesch: that is fine by me ... I can split stuff up when applying
<mmind00> mriesch: I think there is no real need for discussion at all ... we just need patch 2+3 from Jay's series ... the binding amended with a section for the soc ... it's just copy-paste+adapt from another example in there
<mmind00> mriesch: (i.e. like the soc-sections in the commit I linked above)
<pgwipeout[m]> If y'all need a tested-by for the io-domains driver, you can add mine. I've been using it since it was posted.
<pgwipeout[m]> Also, thanks for pinging him for me.
<mriesch> mmind00: ok, i'll have a look
<mriesch> pgwipeout[m]: i'll send around the series later, feel free to reply with your Tested-by: I think mmind00 will collect those, right?
<mmind00> mriesch: correct ... or to be more exact, b4 will collect tags :-) [b4 being a tool for kernel maintainers, to retrieve patch series from mailing list and collect all tags received]
