krzk: is it feasible to use 9810 phone as linux single-board computer ?
<
hyrc>
with panfrost drivers?
<
hyrc>
fwiw i have odroid u3+ with exynos and enjoyed it but i find no linux solution with more powerful bifrost gpu than the amlogic's g52 mp4
<
hyrc>
but now exynos 9810 phones can be had under 100 euro, which could offer better performance than odroid n2+

hyrc: 9810 isn't supported in mainline, and the android kernel doesn't use panfrost, so it is not possible unfortunately

i currently run a jetson nano and khadas vim3. the nano has nice gpu which can run many of my 2000-2010 linux applications
<
hyrc>
the vim3 with mali g52 mp4 is weak in the shader department, so the exynos 9810 with mp12 looks attractive
<
hyrc>
but without the mainline support, it's a dead end
<
krzk>
hyrc: yep, sorry :(
<
krzk>
hyrc: send feedback to S. that his kernels are ancient old and that they do not contribute enough to upstream :)
<
Jack[m]>
You could try mainlining exynos9810, I've found that modern exynos SOCs are a lot easier to mainline than the older ones
<
Jack[m]>
*cries in mct*
<
hyrc>
next step up nvidia xavier nx would cost 700-1400 euro. prices are insane now.
<
hyrc>
so maybe there will be more interest in mainlining hardware that is already produced
