<Tartarus> Hey all. So, the other day I posted https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/uboot/patch/20211115160833.2306958-1-trini@konsulko.com/ which in short is "are there really amlogic boards that have ethernet in U-Boot and cannot read a MAC from the hardware?" and I'm looking for feedback / answers on that a bit more broadly now.
<Tartarus> That option is also useful if you're using the device's USB gadget port for ethernet, which is not the case on libretech-cc (le potato) but I dunno other platforms
<narmstrong> Tartarus: seems I missed this patch, u-boot-amlogic@groups.io wasn't in CC
<Tartarus> narmstrong: yeah, sorry, I only cc'd you I think. Maybe MAINTIANERS entries need an update ? I think I did use get_maintainers.pl for once
<narmstrong> Tartarus: it was the case initially, but now either we can read from fuses or we generate an unique mac from the serial
<narmstrong> Tartarus: except GXBB which hasn't a serial available so it's either from the fuses or random
<narmstrong> hmm MAINTAINERS is ok
<narmstrong> the list is correctly indicated in board/amlogic/p212/MAINTAINERS
<Tartarus> narmstrong: ooh, that GXBB case is interesting. Have you been following https://lore.kernel.org/u-boot/3996ba2ee4e6ac136c0802dc0df4ef9b1750157c.1635506067.git.michal.simek@xilinx.com/ and if not can you please read and chime in somewhere with your thoughts given the GXBB case?
<Tartarus> And re MAINTAINERS, ok, that's on me then, must have dropped it by accident
<narmstrong> but yeah, except GXBB based boards CONFIG_NET_RANDOM_ETHADDR should be removed
<narmstrong> Tartarus: since only GXBB is touched, it's not a big deal if the random mac is passed to Linux
<Tartarus> narmstrong: OK. Somewhere in the thread please when you have time, for the wider record :)
<narmstrong> sure
<Tartarus> Thanks

<alpha_one_x86> Hi, where change CMA size into dtsi for odroid n2 and put to 0?
<narmstrong> alpha_one_x86: no, drivers needs a minimum for HW buffers, but you can reduce it
tdebrouw has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
<alpha_one_x86> I have disabled any video driver and the whole graphic section of the kernel
<narmstrong> alpha_one_x86: MMC driver and network will need CMA, so you can't set it to 0. Likewise 16MiB should be enough
<alpha_one_x86> ok, then how do this?
