hi all. A friend of mine has been using libreelec for a while on a pi3 and although her TV supports CEC (in theory), it's rather old and it doesn't work, at least out of the box. Do I have to dig into the config somehow to make it work? I thought it should work out of the box. Also, what'd the best alternative be for something else, preferably the same remote or a separate one, but not the phone. She's
<RoyK>
not a techie, so to say, but understands things, but want an easier solution than a phone that has to be unlocked every time she wants to change something

[slack] <chewitt> RPi needs an IR sensor to be added for IR remotes so something that works as a wireless keyboard or BT would be easier

hej, how's the HDR status on S922X/Odroid N2 with the current nightlies, 10bit/12bit, is it supported at all? couldn't find too much in the forums about that

[slack] <chewitt> notacactus: hard to test the HDR status as anything 4K/10-bit wedges the board

[slack] <chewitt> N2 and all similar G12A/B or SM1 boards are rather capped at 1080p so you can software decode
<notacactus>
ah, I see. was somewhat confused about what the status of amlogic support is atm
<notacactus>
but thanks for the info!
<LEBot>
[slack] <chewitt> the hardware decoder was authored for GXL/GXM hardware where it runs quite nicely

[slack] <chewitt> newer hardware needs a newer iteration of driver to be authored

[slack] <chewitt> and there’s a multi-year wait for volunteers

[slack] <chewitt> CE is the best option for that hardware
<vpeter>
It should fix sorting by name on arm platform.
<vpeter>
Would build myself but would took way too long :(
<notacactus>
yeah, I understand that. There's CE with vendor kernel for now too, just wanted to check how the current status is since I'd like to move to mainline eventually (especially considering CE might not support S922X with -ne)

Np. Put it somewhere when it's done and I will point to to the user on github issue.
