<compnn> linkmauve, yes just resend mails
<BtbN> They also didn't bounce or anything, did they?
<linkmauve> They didn’t.
<linkmauve> I just resent one of them.
<BtbN> When did you originally send them?
<BtbN> In the log right now, this is your first connect for sending a mail since 25th of Match
<linkmauve> On the 22nd of March.
<BtbN> hm, that's already truncated out
<linkmauve> Did you receive it today?
<BtbN> There's a connection at least
<linkmauve> My postfix logs seem to indicate no issue on my end.
<BtbN> your mail right now was accepted
<BtbN> `delivered to command: /usr/lib/mailman/mail/mailman post ffmpeg-devel`

<compnn> linkmauve, is the date/time correct on your system? :)
<linkmauve> It is yes.

<BtbN> compnn: that'd show up in the postfix log though
<BtbN> postfix delivered it to mailman
<BtbN> unless mailmain itself does more dnsbl checks?
<compnn> good point
<compnn> mailman is the blackhole
<compnn> maybe it delivers with the spam rating and mailman drops anything over xxxx
<compnn> mailman is such a wild project when you think about all these weird bugs and lack of everything

<crytic> Hi, I'm using the ff-nv-codec-headers, and I was wondering if anyone here might know why nvEncGetLastErrorString() returns a string like: "/216,\216,\216...H:H:H:H:H"?
<crytic> In some test cases, it'll at least return the string "Success." after an error
<crytic> The former also is null-terminated, so I don't think it's pure-garbage

<compnn> linkmauve, were you able to post or can you send your mails with a different domain server ? for some reason they didnt come through
<compnn> haasn, did you need the info of how to get refunded for purchase of pc hardware? i think its something like an invoice has to be posted
<compnn> also i agree its good idea to pay for devel hardware.
<compnn> also why not epyk / threadripper /s
<compnn> ehe
<compnn> er epyc
<compnn> 192 cores
<compnn> tron-ass cyberpunk website its a cpu.
<BtbN> seems a bit unneccesary for FFmpeg :D
<compnn> its fine to futureproof when upgrading though
<compnn> codecs , filters and (ai code) arent getting simpler either
<another|> There's nothing future proof about buying an oversized chip that you don't need
<compnn> that is one opinion
* compnn opens up web browser and sees 12 cores peg to 100%
<compnn> sigh
<another|> By the time you might have a use for all these cores, there will be much more modern, more powerful consumer chips available
marth64_ has joined #ffmpeg-devel
<compnn> no worries. i see some lower power epyc combos for about the same price as the r9 combo, at least here in usa land. https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?d=amd+epyc+motherboard+combo

<BtbN> no idea what you're doing with your browser for it to do that oO
<BtbN> open hundreds of tabs in parallel?
<haasn> I stopped caring for slow, power hungry server hardware with umpteen cores
<haasn> numa latency and single core perf is a thing
<haasn> compnn: fwiw I’m waiting for stefano’s approval
<haasn> Or I guess his approval is only needed for the actual refund request

<Lynne> I'm lusting after threadrippers, mainly because you get tons upon tons of PCIE lanes
<BtbN> Never really had any need for more what AM5 provides yet
<Lynne> 24 exposed PCIE lanes are the 1366x768 of 2025
<BtbN> Right now I even only use 20
<Lynne> you don't have a south bridge?
Guest80 has quit [Quit: Client closed]
<BtbN> I don't count that in the ones I use
<BtbN> 16 for the GPU, 4 for an NVMe SSD
<BtbN> Meaning 4 are free for another NVMe if I wanted one
<BtbN> And then the Chipset could also connect two more NVMe SSDs without much of a performance impact
<Lynne> kinda-free, they'd be going to the south bridge which would then share it
<BtbN> no
<BtbN> the Chipset is extra
<Lynne> extra?
<BtbN> so technically AM5 has 28 lanes
<BtbN> cause 4 are reserved for the chipset
<Lynne> oh, was this changed or was this the way it always was in am4?
<BtbN> AM4 only had 24 total, including the chipset lanes
<Lynne> wow, progress
<BtbN> The Chipset is also PCIe 5.0, so it can connect quite a few slower PCIe devices without running out of bandwidth
<BtbN> Or was it 4.0?
<BtbN> In any case, faster than the usual common PCIe devices that are around right now that aren't GPUs or stupid overheating NVMes
<Lynne> haha, yup, nvmes are hot, alright
<BtbN> The PCIe 5.0 ones are basically frying themselves
<Lynne> with nvk being useful, everything getting vulkan support from blender to LLMs, I've been wanting to move all GPUs I have to one machine
<Lynne> but I've only got 2 pcie slots, which would split to 2 8-lane slots
<Lynne> I'm painfully aware of just how slow PCIE is becuase I've been running a 6000 on a 1x slot
