huh fair enough!
<remiliascarlet>
By the way, does CRUX team offer pre-compiled packages, or just ports?
<jaeger>
mostly just ports. Some of us might keep some built packages around for large things but nothing currently official. Been toying with some automatic build systems for future use, though
<jaeger>
I usually keep a built package for llvm, rust, and qtwebengine, for example
<remiliascarlet>
I see.
<remiliascarlet>
A friend of mine who's maintaining ports for CRUX is showing interest of maintaining pre-compiled packages of her ports as well, so I was curious if you guys do so as well.
<jaeger>
romster also used to keep some but his site has been going for a while
<jaeger>
s/going/gone/
<jaeger>
fingers and brain aren't cooperating, heh
<jaeger>
She is certainly welcome to do so, but yeah, nothing official currently

The following ports cannot be compiled: gdb, gst-plugins-base gst-plugins-base-32 gst-plugins-good imlib2-32 pipewire-32 pulseaudio-32 xfsprogs
<farkuhar>
remiliascarlet: can you paste the build logs somewhere, to give the maintainers a hint on how the ports failed?
<remiliascarlet>
I can, but it'll take a while since I'll need to compile them all one by one.
<farkuhar>
The prospect of tying up my system for 10 days with a qt6-webengine compilation is why I opted for less-bloated ways of browsing the web. lynx if graphics and javascript are not needed, nyxt or firefox for everything else.
<remiliascarlet>
Any suggestions for where I can host the log files?
lavaball has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<remiliascarlet>
Nevermind, someone offered me to host the log files for me.
<remiliascarlet>
You can just curl each one of them.
<jaeger>
built qt6-webengine out of curiosity, took 74m30.976s on that system
<remiliascarlet>
Yeah, the system I compiled on was a Core 2 Duo laptop from 2008.
<remiliascarlet>
What's weird though is that it takes just as long to compile gcc-fortran on a Core 2 Duo as it does on a modern Ryzen 5, which is 20 hours if I remember correctly.
