[Discord] <amazingfate> is this package pre-installed on your os?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <noob_09231> i installed Armbian miniml on radxa zero 3w but its not booting can someone help?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <Werner> Best chances to debug boot issues is hooking up a serial console. #❓first-aid
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> I think so.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> I only did an `apt update` and `apt upgrade` and it was the only updated package.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> I'll test with an updated sd card and also reinstall the distro to check if this issue reappears.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <Werner> If this package is pre-installed on your OS you are either not using Armbian or dealing with a knock-off
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> I assume it was pre-installed since I didn't explicitly install anything except docker, wireguard, and a could of utilities at the beginning.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> It had been running just fine for 2-3 months now, and I got the image from the official website so I assume I messed something up on my end somehow
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <Werner> wireguard....yeah, thats probably the issue. You don't need this package since all Armbian images come with wg support by defualt. you only need the userspace utils which is I think wireguard-tools package w/o recommended packages
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> `apt install apt-rdepends` then `apt-rdepends -r linux-image-arm64-16k`, see what depends on it
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> That might be it then, I can see the `wireguard` package if I do a `apt list --installed`.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> However, the `apt-rdepends` command only show the package itself, no other one :/
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> i A linux-image-arm64-16k Provides wireguard-modules
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> ```
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> definitely the wireguard kernel modules then, you probably want the `wireguard-tools` package *without* the `wireguard` metapackage
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> Yeah, I'll try uninstalling it first, and if it doesn't work I'll just reinstall the distro real quick.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> Thank you so much for your help ❤️
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> I think there is a bigger issue than wireguard installing the wrong package.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> I ended up reinstalling the entire OS from an sd card to the internal EMMC and a NVMe drive, and I'm still encountering this issue on a fresh install without any special packages.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> While the drives work perfectly fine on a fresh un-updated image, as soon as I install the 6 updates for the `linux-*` packages from 24.11.1 to 24.11.2 and reboot, all `sd*` drive stop showing up.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> Should I make a separate thread with the logs and other files ?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> I can always jump in a VC if needed too.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <Werner> What image are you trying?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> i'd hazard a guess that the `apt upgrade` is regenerating the initramfs and for some reason not include the sata kernel module, but i literally could not test that
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> I downloaded the "Armbian 24.11.1 Bookworm Minimal / IOT" from armbian.com
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> is there a non-minimal image you can test with?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> There is the "Armbian 24.11.1 Noble Gnome" I can try if you want
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <Werner> Should not make a difference. @superkali has a ITX as well and it serves us as a mirror. Not sure if they boot from sd or something else. Though it has sata disks attached.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> I'll get a list of kernel modules before and after the updates to see if there is any difference.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> It could help narrow down the issue
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> I tried doing `lsmod` on both versions and the only missing module is `input_leds`
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> My `sd*` drives stop showing up after updating some packages
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> My `sd*` drives stop showing up after updating some packages on a fresh install
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <superkali> So strange
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <superkali> I will try later with mine
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <superkali> Obviously I have a second one I don’t touch the server mirror 😂
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> If you do it later, could you just take note of which package you end up updating ?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <nibblepoker> I suspect its either `linux-dtb-vendor-rk35xx` or `linux-image-vendor-rk35xx` since those are the only out-of-date packages that could potentially mess with this.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <superkali> Yes
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <superkali> I have rock 5 itx used like nas with 4 driver
