<DC-IRC> [Discord] <wowelectronics> 2 libraries were held back from a system update. miss-matched ssh sums or missing ssh files. System still runs fine, boatloads of gtk errors
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <wowelectronics> I've got some earlier rocks64's. Horrible video, uptimes great, but the video is torn up by usb traffic. They'll work for this but you'll go blind trying to watch them run a gui. I've settled on a bananapi-m5 w/4G of memory. & enough m2 memory to be its own backups. For $85 + a 5V 5A box supply, can't be beat. Could probably run on the controller cards 5V output, but untried. T <clipped message>
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <wowelectronics> he separate 5V box means you can add an SSR to shut most of the printer off when its done. Whats not to like.? The idle printer draws 7W w/monitor off, another 11 for the big led monitor strapped to the front of it.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> Panthor too
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> For mainline, no, video decoding maybe, encoding, no.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> I mean, my pbp does 4k vp9 like a champ on mpv on mainline..
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> But rk3566 uses a new rk vpu ,so, no idea if it works or not.. and you need encoding.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> So, stay on rk linux
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> Yeah, I am mostly crossing fingers with rk3688.. if the kernel gpu needs as much work as panthor, it will be a hard pass.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> Rk3588 barely survived with panfork until panthor landed on rk linux.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> Panthor runs very decently, or at least, much better than panfork did.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> As for desktop, N100 capped at 6 watts wipes the floor
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> It's humiliating, even with the 32 bit bus constraints is way beyond rk3588 for most desktop stuff
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> It's humiliating, even with the 32 bit bus constraints it is way beyond rk3588 for most desktop stuff
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <monkablyat> Panthor on BSP 5 would be new to me
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> Bsp 5.10? Ohh sure, there's not panthor then
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> But why 5.10!? Haha
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <monkablyat> If so many BSP kernels exist and mainline support is rarely supported by the manufacturer, then you can hardly expect the end user to be able to see through the kernel labyrinth
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> Even then, he has an rk3566, that one does run panfrost just fine on mainline. But the hw encoding isn't there.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <monkablyat> For people like us it make sense yeah for the normal dude who work all day and maybe buy a cheap SBC at the next Walmart maybe not
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> Rk3566 on mainline just works on armbian. I don't think it's that unfriendly.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> Panfrost just worked ootb even with efi uboot
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <monkablyat> I see a bug, your Armbian seems to think it's Fedora, how could this happen
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> Nono, I just added that not only works on armbian, it works on mainline with efi uboot
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> That's clearly fedora workstation
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> Running bleeding edge at that moment.

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <lanefu> All those boards work better if you don't plug in the HDMI cable
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <lanefu> Trying to think what useful things I could possibly do with a nanopi m6 with that LCD case. Naturally I can't think of anything. Sanest rk3588S design I've seen at least
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <beohoff3174> Sorry, I meant Mesa
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> Guys, just to know it in advance, will whatever uboot we use for rk linux 6.10 will able to boot mainline?
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> On rk3588
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <lanefu> The specific uboots used vary a lot by each SBC, but generally they should all be capable of booting RK Linux and mainline interchangeably
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> Thanks lane, it's just that I am going to boot mainline from usb on the long term to upgrade my system or uboot and/or the spi
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> It really saved me on my rock5 itx since the microsd is not that reachable
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <microlinux> Thanks lane, it's just that I am going to boot mainline from usb on the long term to upgrade my system or uboot on the spi
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <beohoff3174> anyone know how to create the /dev/dma_heap/cma device?
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <beohoff3174> If its in the kernel configuration somewhere i cant seem to find it.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <beohoff3174> at least from the menu in the terminal
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <menu> may stick to software transcoding then, speed doesn't *really* matter, it's a compatibility thing - my laptop can't handle 2160p, my TV can't handle mkv 😂
