<chewitt>
IgorPec: thanks for testing .. the second (M2-Pro) boot looks good :)
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> chewitt: but there is something wrong, still ... after awhile i saw oom on the console, like there was some memory leak
<chewitt>
odd
<chewitt>
but I would expect that to come from userspace not the kernel
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> yes, ofc that is possible
<chewitt>
not impossible for it to be kernel related, but not the place I would start looking for such things :)
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> but i am just too busy to follow up on that, just let you know we might need to take another look
<chewitt>
no problem
<chewitt>
I will send the dts upstream
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> i was dealing similar things on odroid n2 and there this didn't happen
<chewitt>
^ that sounds confusing to me (lost in translation)
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> trying to say i can't pin this problem anywhere
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> could be wireless drivers
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> my test bench has some wireless devices and they were enabled
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> by chance
<chewitt>
never a bad thing .. the extra load on the board can throw/find odd power related issues with more hardware active
<chewitt>
I spent 'some time' yesterday chasing a BPI-M5 issue which turned out to be a shit PSU
<chewitt>
btw, I don't have any of the 270º phase hacks/changes in my tree and I have no issues with BPI-M5 and emmc, so I'm not sure what issue @pardini has been chasing
<chewitt>
I have seen a problem with rebooting when initial boot is solely from SD card (no u-boot on emmc) which I have a fix for (will send shortly)
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> chewitt: thanks. Yeah we've had user reports of the M5 non-booting, with high-speed SD cards (not eMMC, AFAIK), and "solved" it by using 270º just for that board. (The opposite problem we had with the Radxa Zero, which non-booted with high-speed SD cards back when we were hacking 270 for everything, and was fixed by having it at default/180). It's confusing indeed.
<chewitt>
I'm not using any phase patches (so everything is defaulting to 180) and haven't had any boot issues in current testing
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> nice. that could very well be the real fix. super thanks.
<chewitt>
I'll admit that I no longer have any old (slow) cards to test with, they've all died over time
<chewitt>
I've seen issues with my Zero .. but it was fine for a while, then not fine, and with both there were no 270 patches or other mmc fixes so I think emmc just died on me
<chewitt>
It boots but then has a hissy fit and /storage gets marked ro which is game over for Kodi and anything else running :)
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> yep -- that's.... common. it's a finicky board. I've a devboard that's so unique I gave up too
<chewitt>
I should ping Radxa folks to send me samples of the newer production boards
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> I will (asap...) do a clean-room 6.2-rcX edge kernel for Armbian, and will pick from your/Neil's recent patches, have 270 only for AXG (proven-needed), and request a full test by interested users.
<chewitt>
stupidly the LED gpio changes between v1.4 and v1.51 (stupid numbering!) so adding support for that needs a dtsi convert and forking.. bit messy
<chewitt>
right now I'm still working on my 6.1 branch, 6.2 exists but will change before I resume work on it
<chewitt>
I'm trying to have a bit of a clearout of patches
<chewitt>
I've browsed Armbian patch collections looking for things .. didn't spot much but if there's something you want upstreaming .. flag it
<chewitt>
actually I tell a big lie .. I reverted the SDIO interrupt changes in my branch, until the discussion on fixing it comes to a conclusion
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> oh -- yeah -- and yesterday Viascheslav picked half-the-fixing.... before I could send the revert.... what a life
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> either way as soon as I have time I will do a sweep. ( @IgorPec and maybe to be aligned with them, could back out of 6.2 for edge, and have 6.1 current "old patchset" and 6.1 edge "new/clean patchset)
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> I'm positive Greg KH will pronounce 6.1 LTS one day
