<DC-IRC> <catsmeat.> Just noticed that several Orange Pi boards have been moved from supported to community. There was a recent announcement that Armbian got a new team member dedicated to Allwinner, so at first I was surprised to see support withdrawn for some boards. Is the idea to focus Allwinner work on a smaller number of boards in light of the poor support and documentation from the manufacture <clipped message>

<DC-IRC> <Werner> For now it is quite simple: each board that has a dedicated maintainer attached can receive supported status. If there are no maintainers, their status are dropped to csc. Feel free to volunteer. Check documentation for further information.
<DC-IRC> <igorpec> Allwinner support is improving on general which means also on not officially supported boards as they are more or less the same, except configured differently. Everything plays against us by default. We are always under-powered in any attempt, small team, no budget. If you consider helping us helping you, there will be some guidance which is better then none. That is our input in <clipped message>
<DC-IRC> <igorpec> to people that are willing to help for software you/they need. There is no interest from industry for this ancient HW and there will be no compensation for the time you will put. Not an attractive and competitive offer? 🙂 Its you and few of us, and SW that has complexity and troubles like any other. Perhaps taking over "just" one task, that needs few weeks to complete? https:/ <clipped message>

<DC-IRC> <catsmeat.> Thank you for that explanation; I didn't really understand that the maintainer role is different from juri_'s role but I think I've got the picture now. Unfortunately I'm a beginner-level linux user without any useful expertise to contribute to the project ☚ī¸
<DC-IRC> <Werner> Don't worry. I don't fully understand it either but I also don't have to (I think) đŸ˜
