<peterm6881>
hey Xogium are you there?
<peterm6881>
ok ive confirmed that dontuse behaves as expected, and I've taken a copy. Now to answewr your questions. I've disconnected the serial GPS module completely
<peterm6881>
no change, resets at systemd[1]: Reached target Path Units
<Xogium>
good
<Xogium>
hmm, well. That was at least worth a shot, right ?
<peterm6881>
now for power down and lose the oled
<Xogium>
at least we're now 100% none of this is due to tweaks
<peterm6881>
yeah absolutely
<Xogium>
err 100% sure
<peterm6881>
ok without oled or serial gps, no change, hard reset at same line
<Xogium>
m'kay
<Xogium>
well then at least we know
<peterm6881>
tbh the console over gadget is as flaky as fuck
<peterm6881>
its almost unusable even when it works
<peterm6881>
which could be part of the problem
<peterm6881>
i think its time to draw a veil, for gadget serial anyway
<peterm6881>
we can think about ethernet another day
<peterm6881>
it would be nice to know if serial is usable by other means, but not enough to get a headache
<Xogium>
can you confirm if the uart0 is flaky also ? Without gadget, I mean
<peterm6881>
yeah the console is unusable, did you find that?
<peterm6881>
uart0 is fine
<peterm6881>
do you have dontuse running?
<Xogium>
hmmm no with screen here it seemed okay to me... Though I haven't used it a whole lot
<peterm6881>
are you able to fire it up and run a few tests just to see if its shit anyway
<Xogium>
sure, what would you like me to test ?
<Xogium>
anything in particular that got messed up ?
<peterm6881>
basically, that the console is usable
<Xogium>
hmmm
<peterm6881>
its all over the place for me, it isnt rendering the characters properly
<Xogium>
well I did run commands like systemctl status, uptime, w, ... all those did work good
<peterm6881>
hmm
<peterm6881>
let me try a different usb cable
<Xogium>
how do you attach to the tty ?
<peterm6881>
sudo screen /dev/ttyACM0 115200
<Xogium>
alrighty that's how I do it too
<peterm6881>
the speed is definitely right?
<peterm6881>
i could try connecting at a slower speed maybe
<Xogium>
yep 115200 it is
<peterm6881>
I think its a desktop issue
<peterm6881>
its super fussy about what size Qterminal is
<peterm6881>
yeah i think thats it. Orange pi didnt seem to care quite so much
<Xogium>
ah wouldn't surprise me, try in pure console
<peterm6881>
yeah thats all that was wrong
<peterm6881>
so, next step is your call
<Xogium>
its all up to you, you know I'm no longer a member of the project, not really. I help with some things but Steve is definitely your man now
<peterm6881>
hmm
<peterm6881>
hey Xogium
