Hello all; A little bird told me that if I want to learn how to write programs for the Raspberry Pi, that I should come here first
<MattTheDouche>
I only just familiarised myself with the ARM assembly commands, but I don't know the ins and out of the Raspberry Pi 5, my home computer. How should I learn the architecture of ANY computer before writing for it?
<clever>
MattTheDouche: reading the docs can help, but there are a lot of gaps in the pi5 docs
<MattTheDouche>
Thanks. I don't work in code and I'm absolutely starting from cold here
<MattTheDouche>
Should I read any books in addition to using Internet forums? I kicked Reddit and I fear following the blind again
<clever>
i learned all of my baremetal stuff without books
<MattTheDouche>
Yeah alright fair enough. Thanks so much Michael!
<clever>
if you get stuck on some part, feel free to ask, and i can help you get unstuck
<MattTheDouche>
Can you write to people directly in an IRC chat?
<MattTheDouche>
Also, where's everyone else?
<clever>
yeah, but its best to ask in the channel so others can also help out
<clever>
there are 40 people in here, but not everybody is active at all times
<MattTheDouche>
You'd be surprised. I had problems with my bicycle, and I only found the answer after writing to a guy who know a guy who knew a guy
<MattTheDouche>
Now I have the email address of some guy in California who knows bicycles front to back and answers literally every impossible question I put to him
