<Ad0> clever, I pinned it down to the tpm_tis_spi driver causing kernel halt / panic , so it doesn't like the device tree @ kernel 5.4 , so I will just mock this up on a separate dev board to enable verbose serial logging to see what's going on
<Ad0> out of the box the CM3+ has spi with CS 1 and 2 (0,1) but not beyond that, then you specify your own GPIOS in the overlay, question if this causes problems
