I'm new to solvespace
<
Chocolate>
is there anyone here?
<
Chocolate>
or a Discord channel?
<
polyfloyd>
I'm here
<
polyfloyd>
But it is a of a bit quiet channel :P
<
Chocolate>
yes I can see that
<
Chocolate>
I want to make some questions about the app
<
Chocolate>
the first thing, I'd like to use a spreadsheet like in freecad
<
Chocolate>
with some dimensions I'm going to use in multiple parts
<
Chocolate>
is that possible?
<
polyfloyd>
I have not seen such a feature
<
polyfloyd>
In what way are spreadsheets used in Freecad? I have not used it
<
Chocolate>
and how do you do when you have to change a same dimension in 20 parts?
<
Chocolate>
i.e. you realized the holes in your assembly are all 1 mm bigger than they should be
<
polyfloyd>
If I were to make such holes I would use the equal size constraint
<
polyfloyd>
So resizing one would resize all
<
Chocolate>
is that possible through multiple files?
<
Chocolate>
I understand that an assembly is made of multiple slvs files
<
polyfloyd>
I think so, by defining the actual size in the lowest common file
<
polyfloyd>
If there is none, you could create one with a construction line circle that has the size
<
polyfloyd>
And then import that. At least, that is what I have seen other people do
<
Chocolate>
so I create a new file. draw a circle with radius 10, then save the file, open a new one...
<
Chocolate>
then open it with new-group>link/assemble?
<
polyfloyd>
Yes, pretty much :)
<
Chocolate>
if I have to use that same circle 10 times in this new part I make 9 other circles with Q constraint
<
Chocolate>
the imported circle can't be used as part of the sketch
<
Chocolate>
I need to draw 10 new circles
<
polyfloyd>
No, not as part. But as a reference
<
Chocolate>
and make them equal to the linked one
<
Chocolate>
ok, so instead having a spreadsheet I'm going to have a bunch of slvs files with the basics shapes of my project
<
Chocolate>
it's a nice workaround. thanks
<
Chocolate>
my second question is how could I run an animation, i.e, a 360 degrees rotation of a part in an assembly
<
Chocolate>
and if there's a way to autoremove redundant constraints
<
Chocolate>
while I'm drawing a sketch
<
polyfloyd>
Autoremoving constraints is not a think afaik, being mindful of what constraints to create is what helps me out
<
polyfloyd>
I have a design that has two parts that rotate about an axis
<
polyfloyd>
It consists of two distinct parts that are linked at a single point and with some freedom of movement to mimic the rotation in reality
<
Chocolate>
so I have to test it by draging with the mouse
<
Chocolate>
I'm trying to change the color theme as this high contrast default is pretty stressfull to me
<
Chocolate>
it generates on me some kind of claustrophobia. it's too dark
<
polyfloyd>
Yeah, understandable. I have my background set to some kind of blue
<
Chocolate>
I can't find the option to do so
<
polyfloyd>
It's in the Line Styles menu
<
Chocolate>
oh here it is on lyne styles
<
Chocolate>
and what about the property browser background?
<
polyfloyd>
That is also still black for me
<
polyfloyd>
But it is not so large so it does not bother me
<
polyfloyd>
You can toggle it with the Tab key btw
<
Chocolate>
nice tip
<
Chocolate>
I'm trying to change its color anyway, maybe from the source code somewhere
<
Chocolate>
I can't T-T
<
Chocolate>
what is the simplest way to make a centered rectangle?
<
Chocolate>
I can see symetry constraint is not working with 3 points
<
Chocolate>
I made 2 construction segments from the center to the corners and made them equals
<
Chocolate>
can be the python-solvespace packaged used as a spreadhseet?
