<jluthra> pivi: hey. ov5640 (technexion rpi module, or digilent pcam5c) for am62, as it has an inbuilt isp. and imx219 (rpi v2 module) for all the other SoCs that have isp.
<jluthra> we already have overlays for these in both upstream and ti kernel

<jluthra> for just testing CSI interface (i.e. capture raw frames to DDR) you don't need an ISP actually.. so imx219 should work for all SoCs

<pivi> jluthra: I have very limited experience on cameras ... so apologize for any dumb question ... with imx219 I could have some fixed pattern in test mode and build some automated test to validate that MIPI-CSI is working as expected?
<pivi> jluthra: (and thanks for the answer :-)
<pivi> jluthra: the question about the test pattern is really about am62 where we have no ISP.
<jluthra> pivi: yes we do exactly that with imx219 test pattern generator for our internal tests.. usually byte-by-byte comparison or md5sum comparison of the raw bayer data is enough.
<jluthra> no isp needed to capture and compare the raw bayer data
<pivi> jluthra: I mean, for a test, we can also convert the raw data do a bitmap in software, I assume. Now that I think at it.
<pivi> anyway, thanks again!
<jluthra> yes you can.. not really needed if the purpose is to just test csi interface - but might make easy for manual visual comparison/reference
<jluthra> no probs!
