<NishanthMenon> arnd: we think we can stop support.
<NishanthMenon> arnd: how do you suggest we go about it?
<arnd> NishanthMenon: awesome, thanks for the research! It seems we are also good for Renesas and NVIDIA, and I'm not worried about the 2012-era server chips (Marvell Armada XP, Calxeda Midway, Hisilicon HiP01)
<arnd> This is the session at the architecture maintainer microconf at lpc.events where we will discuss this in purpose https://lpc.events/event/16/contributions/1183/
<NishanthMenon> arnd: thanks.
<arnd> we still need to support the 4GB configuration on a number of chips, so we need to finish and merge linusw's work to support up to 3.75GB of lowmem, but we may get away with completely dropping highmem support in that config already
<arnd> I expect that the 2022 LTS kernel (6.1?) will still work as before, the 2023 LTS release (5.6?) should have linusw's work either with or without highmem depending on the cross-architecture discussion
<arnd> after that, I hope we can drop highmem completely
