<chbgdn>
Hello, does anyone have patch for hdmi-audio regression in 5.17? System unstable with audio enabled after kernel update. Without hdmi-audio all ok. Thanks.
<xdarklight>
chbgdn: that issue is new to me. on which board are you seeing that issue?
<chbgdn>
xdarklight: Beelink GT-King, mainline u-boot and mainline kernel. System crashes in 1-3 minutes when playing videos on youtube with enabled hdmi-audio. With removed config from alsa all ok. In 5.15.32 audio out was named as HDMI/Digital port, but in 5.17.x with same config it have Analog output name
<chbgdn>
When system crashes, sound got cycled last seconds from audio.
<xdarklight>
2) seems very unlikely and I am not sure about the other ones
<xdarklight>
chbgdn: can you git bisect this issue?
<chbgdn>
xdarklight: Will try, but every time need wait some time for crash :)
<chbgdn>
It can't be related to narmstrong hdmi rework? Or hdmi-audio didnt related to this
<narmstrong>
Hmmm what kind of crash ?
<narmstrong>
The hdmi rework has landed on 5.18
<xdarklight>
narmstrong: to me it looks like the HDMI rework is already part of 5.17. my gut feeling says it's probably not related to chbgdn's issue. but we're talking of hardware and software here - so everything's possible ;-)
<chbgdn>
narmstrong: I use Manjaro ARM, KDE Wayland DE. Using 5.17.1 kernel with enabled hdmi-audio I got random crash, sound got cycled last seconds from audio, system unresponsive. I tried run 'dmesg -w' and produce crash, but unsuccessfully. Guy from Manjaro ARM forums 2 weeks ago tell about same issue. With 5.15.32 all ok.
<narmstrong>
Indeed you’re right it’s part of 5.17
<chbgdn>
And when I change kernel, without changing rootfs and alsa config, name of audio device change from HDMI/Displayport on 5.15.32 to Analog on 5.17.1
<chbgdn>
But sound working ok before system got crashed.
