<chewitt> kenny what docs, u-boot?
<chewitt> the repo evolved beyond a simple store of FIP files
<Tartarus> narmstrong: I think https://source.denx.de/u-boot/u-boot/-/blob/master/doc/board/amlogic/ and the above need to be reconciled. I don't have a problem if U-Boot says to look elsewhere for up to date instructions for external binaries
<Tartarus> but it should all be consistent :)
<kenny> chewitt: as Tartarus, I was using the u-boot instructions. I'll look at the libreelec ones instead
<kenny> the u-boot ones don't work at all
<narmstrong> Tartarus: using the librelec repo would be cool but:
<narmstrong> 1) the distribution licence of these fils is still very unclear
<Tartarus> narmstrong: To be clear, I'm not suggesting we grab the binaries themselves
<narmstrong> 2) we may need to have a mirror somewhere stable in case something happens to librelelex
<narmstrong> Tartarus: yeah but the instructions are a mess right now…
<Tartarus> Also true :)
<narmstrong> Maybe add both instructions to use pre-built and instructions to build those binaries
<Tartarus> So long as it's on someones TODO list
<Tartarus> It's clearly a problem for users, so it needs fixing. But everyone only has so much time, I get it.
<narmstrong> I’ll add it on the linux-meson.com todo list
<narmstrong> First fix the p201 doc with correct gxbb instructions !
<kenny> ty! :)
<Tartarus> Check 'em all most likely :)

<hexdump0815> kenny: there are copy and paste errors in the p201 u-boot readme i think ... here are my notes about building gbb u-boot: https://github.com/hexdump0815/u-boot-misc/blob/master/readme.gxb
<hexdump0815> gxbb i ment ... one important thing to note regarding gxbb as well: do not try to install u-boot on emmc and use a mbr partition table - it will not work
<hexdump0815> some info regarding this can be found here: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/18902-s905-failed-to-boot-from-emmc/
