<fossdd>
hey, do you know if or when the will be a new release of tvheadend? the last release is from 2017 and a new stable release would help us packaging at Alpine Linux. thx
<htsbot>
[slack] <chewitt> the current plan of non-record is to figure out some of the documentation and translation juju needed for a release
<htsbot>
[slack] <chewitt> once this is done we’ll bump to v4.4 and v4.3 (allegedly the development version with v4.2 still being ‘stable’) is unsupported
<htsbot>
[slack] <chewitt> but with current skeleton staff the current thought is to run v4.4 as a rolling release
<htsbot>
[slack] <chewitt> which is essentially what we’re doing with v4.3 already
<htsbot>
[slack] <chewitt> the v4.4 label is just a “line in the sand” moment
<htsbot>
[slack] <chewitt> if you want to deprecate v4.2 and call v4.3 ‘stable’ as an interim measure, we’re cool with that
<htsbot>
[slack] <chewitt> if you’re going to be the maintainer .. feel free to drop an email to info@ so we can be in easier contact
<fossdd>
ah, okay. i guess i'm going to wait to 4.4 and upgrade to it.
<fossdd>
i already messaged the current maintainer if it's fine with me taking over his maintainership. once he's fine, i can message you.
<fossdd>
i guess alpine switched once to 4.3, but switched back to the 4.2 releases because they were newer
<htsbot>
[slack] <Flole> We can also host alpine packages on our cloudsmith repo, we just need to put the code to build them in our GitHub actions file
