stuff like this btw makes me think if we should just add that to pkgmk.conf or something and include these with x86_64 to ease the burden of maintaining arm etc

that would be useful enough honestly, there is plenty of things over time i've noticed that is literally all thats needed to build some things, most don't even require it, or can auto find it. I've found it's usually older software
