<pitillo (@pitillo:crux.nu)> Morning Tim. I'm currently building util-linux on 32b. I've seen your PR for qt and util-linux. I need somentime to check my rpi (Frozen probably due llvm build). I'll try to check this afternoon)

r0ni: nice! good to know. All those generic packages can be a good option for people. It's hard to maintain but if you can do that, it could be very welcome
<pitillo>
is a bit of an incongruity using a source based distro, but in the end, it's another alternative that can be useful.
<r0ni>
I think it's a good compromise to get a system up and running with current packages and then going from there with source
<pitillo>
true, that's even another alternive
<r0ni>
which, depending on hardware involved, can be excessive.
<pitillo>
yeah, I know... but that's something you know if you use a source based distro, specially with monster ports
<r0ni>
this is very true, but also why i've made it easy enough to pick a package if one wants and they can go on their way if they choose. I do like that crux can optionally use packages, it's a nice to-have
<pitillo>
yeah, and crux alow us to manage packages in an easier way... if you can automate building ports, dependencies and pkg-get.... you can maintain a pkg repo (I've done this in the past to share packages between same devices like rpi3 or the opipc)
<pitillo>
if I remember right, pkg-get was used with the HP Jornada 720 using cross compiled packages

r0ni: building on an M1 must be a cathartic experience after weeks of continuous compilation on the pbp
<ardo>
r0ni: about more packages, you've already covered pretty much all the horrid beasts I need on the pbp, say gcc{,-fortran}, llvm, clang, libreoffice, firefox, qt6-webengine, etc
<jaeger>
An m1 does make it very nice
