<seb_kuzminsky> hi folks, possibly dumb question here but i wasn't able to find the answer in the docs
<seb_kuzminsky> can i run buildmaster 2.10 and connect workers from 3.4?
<seb_kuzminsky> or do the master and workers need to have closer-matching version numbers, maybe in the same major version?
<cmouse> iirc your workers should be at most master version
<seb_kuzminsky> so the workers can be older but not newer than the master?
<cmouse> yeah
<seb_kuzminsky> thanks!
<seb_kuzminsky> is this documented somewhere?
<cmouse> yes
<seb_kuzminsky> got a link?
<cmouse> hm
<cmouse> pretty sure it was somewhere
<seb_kuzminsky> i looked and didnt find it, but there's a lot of docs and i may just have missed it
<cmouse> ah
<cmouse> "The versions of the master and the workers do not need to match, so it’s possible to upgrade them separately."
<cmouse> this has been changed since last i checked
<seb_kuzminsky> i did see that, and i was unsure how that statement interacts with the earlier "Additionally, all backwards-incompatible changes will be done at a major version change (e.g. 1.x to 2.0)."
<cmouse> although the sysadmin in me is rather persistent about perils on running workers that are more recent than masters
<cmouse> so up to you i'd say =)
<seb_kuzminsky> ok, i'll give it a try, thanks for your help!
