<DC-IRC> <nehsitt> Hello guys. I am trying to run MS xbox dongle for playing games using xboxone controler on my AM Logic soc 905x2 that it running Armbian_23.08.0_amlogic_s905x2_lunar_6.1.55_server_2023.10.02. I need to compile xone driver and the compilation env needs to the same as the kernel. So I found https://developer.arm.com/downloads/-/arm-gnu-toolchain-downloads , x86_64 Linux hosted cros <clipped message>
<DC-IRC> <nehsitt> s toolchains -> AArch64 GNU/Linux target (aarch64-none-linux-gnu) to go with. I have never done this before, is there any help that could guide me how to I guess change the compiler to the one mentioned above ?
<DC-IRC> <mmie4jbcu> You can install the `build-essential` package, if you have not already done, in your Armbian system. It will have all the required compilers and libraries for compiling the driver. Then, just follow the instructions here: https://fostips.com/install-driver-xbox-one-controller-headset-ubuntu/
<DC-IRC> <mmie4jbcu> The steps will be the same for Armbian, as Ubuntu.
<DC-IRC> <xfall00> ok cool thx, I have not installed build-essential. Let me try it out.
<DC-IRC> <xfall00> ok build-essential was already installed before
<DC-IRC> <xfall00> when running "sudo apt install linux-headers-$(uname -r)" gives me non existing package "linux-headers-6.1.55-ophub"
<DC-IRC> <xfall00> anyway, when I try to do "sudo ./install.sh" it complais that I am trying to use different compiler than the one that was used to compile kernel
<DC-IRC> <xfall00> it says "The kernel was build by: aarch64-none-linux-gnu-gcc (Arm GNU Toolchain 12.3.Rel1 (Build arm-12.35}) 12.3.1. 20230626"
<DC-IRC> <xfall00> "You are using: gcc (Ubuntu 12.3.0-1ubuntu1~23.04)" 12.3.0
<DC-IRC> <xfall00> so my logic tells me to use different compiler ... but I am not sure how to .... unless my logic is wrong ...
<DC-IRC> <mmie4jbcu> Ah, okay. So you're using the ophub rebuild of armbian. I am not sure that is an official derivative of Armbian, and hence getting support/help for it will be difficult here. You can ask in the ophub project's issues or discussion pages.
<DC-IRC> <mmie4jbcu> Just curious, why not use the official Armbian distro? It has awesome community support.
<DC-IRC> <mmie4jbcu> BTW, you can ignore this warning.
<DC-IRC> <xfall00> heh, reasoning behind using this one is that I was looking for a distro that would be suitable for amlogic 905x2 and have newer kernel - because of the xone needs. Besides this I would like to use it for kodi with hw decoding 265 for aml. so I was choosing from https://github.com/ophub/amlogic-s9xxx-armbian/tree/main
<DC-IRC> <xfall00> I am at the beginning, so I do not have any issues to switch to different distro that will boot up on my AML soc 905x2 box
<DC-IRC> <igorpec> armbian developers does not support forks as its extremely extremely difficult / expensive to support official builds without absolute no support from any party - use use armbian builds and tune in here https://forum.armbian.com/forum/24-tv-boxes/ IMO this is your best shot
